Daisy Mabel is my great-grandmother. I know that she was interested in family history, but she passed away long before the advent of the internet, when I was just a child. This site is in memory of her, keeping her alive in some small way.

I am just a keen amateur genealogist, idling my days away searching for the men and women who came before me and made me, Me. I take pride in being thorough in my research, but I am not infallible; any information on this site should therefore be taken with a giant pinch of salt.

When I’m not shaking the dust from my long-dead ancestors’ souls, I enjoy reading, films, beginning creative projects which rarely gain completion, writing (who doesn’t want to be a novelist?), listening to music, visiting antique/vintage fayres and shops and adding to my collections of old musty books, vintage dolls and elaborate perfume bottles. I’m very much a ‘Netflix & Chill’ type of person, with eclectic taste in tellybox shows. And, I like cats and doodling.

a journey through the mind of an amateur genealogist

The thing that interests me most about family history is the gap between the things we think we know about our families and the realities.
